Member of Parliament [MP] for the Ayensuano constituency in the Eastern Region, Samuel Ayeh-Paye believes the trial case on the death of the former MP for Abuakwa North, J.B. Danquah–Adu has taken much time than expected.

To him, the manner in which the first accused person was arrested gives clear evidence that the case should not take more than three years as it has taken now.

“It is a straight forward case which should not have kept that long,” he pointed out.

The Ayensuano constituency MP indicated that even though he does not know the exact procedure being used by security experts and the court handling the case, from his layman point of view “too much time has been wasted. . . ”.

He made these comments on UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsroma’ newspaper discussion segment when the wife of the late Member of Parliament, Ivy Heward-Mills in a post on Facebook stated that some officers of the CID sexually harassed her during their investigations and also asked her if she wears waist beads, a question she feels was completely unconnected to the subject of investigations.

“And if you think that’s inappropriate, try that Sunday morning when one of those men; a man at the helm of investigating my husband’s murder, thought it sensible to muster the sheer unadorned temerity, call me and tell me how beautiful / sexy he thinks I am and give me reasons why I must marry him; an already married man. Yes, he had the audacity… and this was the head of a certain significant unit at the CID… and I’m supposed to trust that they did a great job? May God forgive him,” her post said.

“36 months after JB’s murder, Ghana is still playing “Ludo” & “Oware” or perhaps “chacha” with the matter. Between then and now, I have been harassed and threatened by family, citizens & police alike,” she wrote.
