A Deputy Minister of Information, Ama Dokuaa Asiama Adjei, has debunked allegations that the removal of the BNI Boss was due to the poor handling of issues concerning the arrest of deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Koku Anyidoho.

Madam Asiama-Adjei insisted the timing was a mere coincidence contrary to speculations in the public domain.

She told GBC the shake-up was to boost the security system, adding it is not the best to keep one person at the same position for too long.

Mr Appiah was reassigned to the Ministry of National Security.

The move came in the wake of the arrest and detention of Mr Anyidoho who was arrested for inciting a civil coup against the Akufo-Addo government on a radio station.

A statement signed by Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, Minister of Information said : “Government announces for the information of the general public that the president, with immediate effect made changes within the National Security outfit as follows: Ambassador Rasheed Seidu Inussah, Director General of the Research Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration is now the Director of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), Peter Nyarko Opata, Deputy Director General of the Research Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration is now Director General of the Research Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration,
