A Vice Chairman of the NDC Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has questioned the health status of the NPP flagbearer Nana Akuo-Addo, claiming he is not medically fit to be president.
“Nana Akufo Addo has become very desperate, he’s 72 years; by Ghana’s laws when you’re sixty years you go on pension because your strength reduces. Nana is 72 years still he wants to contest for the presidency. Now, if you ask of his whereabouts...he campaigns for a week, then he goes abroad for two weeks.
“Ghanaians want a President who has the physical and mental capacity to govern the nation. Governance is a very strenuous exercise and you need a very strong personality who has enough strength to do the work. We don’t want to vote for a President who stays in Ghana for one week and spends the next two weeks in London. Why, is he building an annex of the Flag Staff House in London and work there,” the former NDC organiser told a rally at Asamankese in the Eastern region.
According to the NDC kingpin, the three-time flagbearer cannot be effective if voted as President in the December 7 polls because his health will work against him.
The Africa Watch magazine has in its last two editions attacked the health status of Nana Addo insisting he has an acute form of cancer which keeps worsening by the day. The paper maintains anytime the NPP leader flies out of Ghana, he goes for medical purposes.
The NPP has, however, denied their leader is weak and cannot be president. They accuse the NDC of sponsoring reports of such nature to denigrate the former attorney general.
Meanwhile, Nana Akufo-Addo is currently on a four-day visit to the UK and Germany.
