International Relations and security analyst Alhaji Farouk Al-Wahab, has suggested that the recent cases of murder across the country are nothing new.

The analyst speaking on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm said he strongly disagrees with anybody who would say the killings was a new trend.

He said it is not true because the killings have been with us for several years and people keep doing it because they are not punished for their crimes.

He explained that although Ghana is not an extremist nation with any record of terrorism, it has topped the charts in the West African sub-region with gruesome murder cases.

The expert stated that the killings started and existed for several years, and our inability to resolve the crimes is increasing the rate.

He said the culprits are not punished adding, "the rate at which people are killing others is not the same as the way we incarcerate offenders."

To resolve the issues, the analyst suggested that all dockets gathering dust from the AG’s office and unresolved murder cases including MPs and journalists and Ghanaians in general must be addressed.

He also spoke against the decision by some families to settle out of court issues of criminal activities including, murder cases, because such acts embolden criminals to act with impunity.
