Ghana’s High Commissioner to the UK, Mr Victor Smith, has lost his bid for the Abuakwa North seat for the second time, according to provisional results from the collation centre.
Mr Smith, who contested on the ticket of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), got 11,740 votes.
The incumbent MP, Gifty Twum-Ampofo of the New Patriotic Party, who recently won the seat through a by-election following the murder of JB Danquah-Adu, got 18,098.
Prior to the polls, Mr Smith had told Class91.3FM that he would defeat Mrs Twum-Ampofo, who he described as a political neophyte.
