The General Legal Council (GLC) under the instructions of the Chief Justice, Sophia Akuffo summoned the General Manager of ABC TV over an interview the media outlet had with a former Director of the Ghana Law School, Mr Kwaku Ansa Asare.
So far, top lawyers and opinion leaders including H.K Prempeh, Kofi Bentil among others have said the invitation or summons has no basis in the law and ABC could ignore it.
However, being a law-abiding media house and respectful of the C.J’s office, ABC chose to cooperate.
The private media house, ABC Television who many have said did a professional job in the said interview is due to appear before a GLC Committee later today.
Some media Coalitions have expressed solidarity with the management throughout, warning against attempts to stifle media freedom no matter where it emanates from.
