Member of Parliament (MP) for Akwapim South, Osei Bonsu Amoah says the request made by the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) to supply them with the Togolese voters register will be honoured to further strengthen their case for a new electoral roll.

The Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition is alleging that the country’s electoral album is bloated with foreign nationals, especially from neighbouring Togo, La Cote d’Ivoire and Burkina Faso.

The NPP has cited names of over 76,000 Togolese nationals in addition to about 13,000 Burkinabes in the country’s voters register.

Their evidence has since been forwarded to the EC to back their call for a new electoral roll.

The EC has in return requested for a copy of the Togolese register to assist it arrive at a decision as to whether there is the need for a new Ghanaian electoral album going into election 2016.

Mr. Amoah, who is one of the representatives of the NPP at the Electoral Commission, in interview with Kasapafmonline.com said the EC’s request will be met to give credence to their case.

“The NPP had thought that the EC could have easily liaised with its sister Togolese institution to obtain a copy of their voters register but since they’ve made that request from us, we are ready to supply it. We have it and will give them a copy,” he noted.

The party’s former National Chairman, Peter Mac Manu has also reiterated the NPP’s readiness to submit a copy of the Togolese voters register to the EC.
