We must boldly end monetisation of elections – Mac Manu

Former NPP chairman, Peter Mac Manu, has called for regulation of campaign financing in Ghana, citing the negative impact of political monetization on democracy.

He believed that the high cost of elections discourages competent individuals from running, undermining the democratic process.

Mac Manu has advocated for the establishment of an enforcement unit within the Electoral Commission to oversee political party accounts and ensure compliance with campaign finance laws.

He stressed on the need for bold action to address this issue, which has been neglected for too long, to prevent the stifling of Ghana's democracy.
