Deputy Attorney General, Joseph Dindiok Kpemka, has dismissed accusations of political witch hunting against the main opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) National chairman, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, and its Deputy Communications Officer, Kwaku Boahen following a court action against the two.
The Deputy Attorney General after Tuesday’s court sitting told Journalists the state will ensure that the NDC’s National Chairman and Deputy Communications Officer, Kwaku Boahen are brought to book if found guilty of charges leveled against them.
“…As I have indicated, we are not here to persecute anybody. As an Attorney General she has made a judgment and we are here to ensure that we prove the charges that have been leveled vis a vis the fact that we actually have and the pieces of evidence that we are going to adduce at the trial …No one is above the law and the constitution itself is very clear on this matter. And we are going to ensure that anything that is done is in compliance with the laws of the land.
The National Chairman of the largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo has been granted bail in the sum of GH¢100, 000 after appearing in court Tuesday.
Slapped with the same bail sum is a deputy National Communication Director Kweku Boahen who is also standing trial alongside Mr Ampofo with both asked to produce one surety each.
They have been charged with conspiracy to cause harm and assault against a public officer following a leaked tape during a meeting with party communicators.
The Accra Commercial Court adjourned the case to Monday 6th May, 2019. The court directed the Attorney General to submit to the accused all statements, the said audio and the charge sheet.
