Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party [NPP], Nana Obiri Boahen has questioned the locus behind NDC’s quest for the police to investigate the flagbearer of his party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
He quizzed – “So what is the sense in reporting Dr Bawumia to the police? Was he verified in his house? There is no sense in this.”
The NDC has lodged a complaint with the Ghana Police against Dr. Bawumia’s move.
The NDC wants the police to investigate allegations that have been leveled against Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia that he allowed officials of the Electoral Commission to verify him in his house which led to the dismissal of two EC workers.
Even though the NPP has denied the contention – the ruling party is insisting Dr Bawumia lured the EC officials to his house for other reasons aside the verification.
Speaking on NEAT FM’s 'Ghana Montie' programme, Nana Obiri Boahen said – “They [NDC] are just making empty threats and noise” adding that “This issue must not be treated with any seriousness. There are more serious issues to be discussed.”
To him – the NDC are practicing “jungle” politics – “They should rather go to his [Bawumia] house and arrest him. That will be more sensible than what they are doing now.”
