Where is our share of $1m per constituency? - NDC asks government

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Jaman South Constituency of the Brong Ahafo Region has demanded the whereabouts of their share of the 1 million dollar per constituency promised by the NPP government.

The one million dollars, one constituency policy was one of the many policies announced by the then-candidate Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in the heat of the 2016 elections.

The party promised to set up development authorities which will be used as vehicles to implement the policy and having won power, pressure is mounting on them to fulfil the promises they made during the campaign trail.

But in a statement issued by the party's Communications team and copied to the media indicated that the Constituency Chairman of the NPP in the area Mr. Alexander Ferka made a categorical statement on a radio station that government has released the money to the Assembly to embark on projects.

The NDC is therefore asking the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the area to confirm or deny the statement made by his Constituency Chairman.

"On 16th November, 2018, the NPP Constituency Chairman, Hon. Alexander Ferka made a categorical statement on Kiss FM (local based radio station at Drobo) that, the Assembly has started utilizing the $2m (94 billion old cedis) released by government under the $1m,1constituency policy. We therefore want the MCE to either confirm or deny this statement from his Party Chairman", the statement emphasized.

The statement demanded "Has government released the $2m (94 billion old cedis) it owed the good people of Jaman South for the 2017 and 2018 fiscal years under the policy to the Municipal? If yes, when was the money released and what has the money been used for?"

WHERE IS OUR $2M UNDER 1 MILLION 1 CONSTITUENCY POLICY? - NDC

The president during his inaugural address encouraged all Ghanaians to be Citizens but not spectators. It is out of this advice that Jaman South NDC want to know the whereabout of our share of the $1m, per Constituency (47 billion old cedis) promised by the government.

Prior to the 2016 general elections, the President, then the presidential candidate of NPP promised Ghanaians $1m per a Constituency every year. It has been almost 2 years now but we have not heard anything concerning this policy.

We want to ask few questions in order to ascertain the truth surrounding this $1m, 1constituency, policy.

1. On 16th November, 2018, the NPP Constituency Chairman, Hon. Alexander Ferka made a categorical statement on Kiss FM (local based radio station at Drobo) that, the Assembly has started utilizing the $2m (94 billion old cedis) released by government under the $1m,1constituency policy. 2. Has government released the $2m (94 billion old cedis) it owed the good people of Jaman South for the 2017 and 2018 fiscal years under the policy to the Municipal?

3. If yes, when was the money released and what has the money been used for?

4. If No, when is the money going to be released since we are almost into the 3rd year of its administration

5. The MCE and the Assembly should furnish us with the list of those projects with their costs under the $ 1m, 1constituency policy which has been undertaken by the government

Government is trying to play tricks with Ghanaians not only on this promise but other promises such as settling the customers of DKM, Jasta Motors, Little Drops helping hand Association, God is Love, Care for Humanity as well as Perfect Edge Micro Finance and not to forget 1D, 1F promise.

These promises have all turned out to be just a mirage.

Through this release, we are encouraging all NDC faithfuls and sympathizers to work together, for victory 2020 awaits us.
