An Accra-based legal practitioner, Mr. Joshua Sackey, who offered to defend Aryee Aryeetey, alias Ataa ayi, the suspected armed robber, has explained that he failed to make good his promise because the relatives of the suspect failed to pay for his legal fees.
According to him, he negotiated with two relatives of Ataa Ayi, who promised to make part-payment of the legal fees but failed to do so. "As of now, I have even lost interest in Ataa Ayi's case because of the lackadaisical attitude of his relatives", lawyer Sackey told Daily Guide. He however assured that he is prepared to go to the defence of Ataa Ayi if his relatives will be serious and approach him on how to settle the legal fees.
He however refused to disclose how much he is charging for defending Ataa Ayi. Lawyer Joshua Sackey added that he would not have abandoned Ataa Ayi had his relatives come to negotiate with him about the terms of payment.
