Dr Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, flagbearer aspirant of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has explained why he added GHC5,000 to the GHC300,000 filing fee of the party.
Dr Spio-Garbrah while, submitting his nomination forms at the party’s headquarters December last year, overpaid the original filing fee of GHC300,000.
At the time, reports claim he paid additional GHC5000 to prove that he was not ‘broke’.
But on Thursday while speaking to Nana Yaw Kesse, sit-in host of Peace FM morning show ‘Kokrokoo’, Dr Spio-Garbrah said he paid the extra amount to show his love for the party and not to indicate that he is richer than the rest of the aspirants.
“…we don’t want the 300, 000 filing fee to be in our history for it to keep increasing anytime there’s going to be an election. I paid that amount with 5000 in addition not because I have money but because of my love for the party. The party members should know that I am capable and so can trust me with their vote”.
