Prof. John Gatsi, Dean of the University of Cape Coast Business School, has questioned the government's decision to regulate cement prices through a legislative instrument, suggesting that it should instead comprehensively regulate all commodities in the construction industry.
He warned that targeting only cement could have negative economic impacts.
The Minority in Parliament and the Ghana Real Estate Developers Association have also expressed opposing views on the matter, with the former arguing that it contradicts the parent act and the latter seeing it as a step in the right direction.
