Winneba, May 8, GNA - The Authorities of University of Education, Winneba have been called upon to turn out teachers that would help train the child to develop his or her talent during infancy.
The Archbishop of Cape Coast Diocese of the Catholic Church and President of the Catholic Bishop Conference, Cardinal Peter Kodwo Turkson, made the call at the induction and investiture into office of Prof. Jophus Anamuah-Mensah as the first vice-chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba.
The induction of Prof Anamuah-Mensah followed the elevation of the university college to a full university status under an act of parliament.
Cardinal Appiah-Turkson who performed the induction, charged Prof. Anamuah Mensah to be a humble leader that would offer protection, guidance and correct wrong doers to ensure the success of his administration.
In an address, Prof. Anamuah-Mensah mentioned inadequate structures as some of the problem facing the academic work of the university. He said presently, the university with a total population of 16,000 including 5,000 distance learners has a total of 240 staff, representing 44 per cent, adding that this is woefully inadequate.
