Ghana Tourism Authority CEO Akwasi Agyeman announced that around 90 events are registered for this December's "Year of Return" initiative, with a target of 1.2 million visitors.
In 2019, the program, launched by the government to reconnect African diasporans with their roots, generated $3.3 billion in tourism revenue.
Speaking on the Asaase Breakfast Show, Agyeman noted a decline in event registrations due to uncertain corporate sponsorship, but expressed optimism about visitor interest.
By the end of Q3, nearly 900,000 visitors had arrived, keeping the authority on track for its 1.2 million goal.
