Member of Parliament (MP) for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo has been advised to tread cautiously with the caliber of persons he wants to challenge publicly as it has the potential of ruining his reputation for good.
According to the North East Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Lawyer Sulley Sambian, his challenge to Dr Bawumia may not only end his political career but could leave him with incurable academic bruises.
“He risks being left with a broken rib and a staggering political career in his bid to match up with an economic Wizkid of recent times whose credentials have been testified to by the international community”, he warned in reaction to the challenge thrown by the member of the Finance Committee of Parliament.
It would be recalled that the lawmaker who was recently speaking at a forum organised by the Coalition for Restoration — under the theme ‘Assessing the three-year reign of President Akufo-Addo’– at Labone in Accra challenged the Vice President to a public debate.
He went ahead to threaten that he would resign from politics forever if the vociferous Vice President is able to defend the government’s picture of the economy.
“I want to meet him face to face and ask him to defend these numbers in the full glare of Ghanaians. If they are able to find any magic to dispute the cooking they are doing, I will resign from politics for good,” the Parliamentarian said amid applause from NDC faithful who thronged the forum.
But the private legal practitioner who believes the NDC lawmaker is only bragging when he was even not considered as a member of a committee that looked into the manifesto of his own party.
“Even common manifesto committee you did not make the list. The vice president will not condescend so low to such a level of engaging you one-on- one. What clout professionally have you carved for yourself except the propaganda in PhD you enviably hold?
Do you remember John the Baptist’s response when he was asked whether he was the Messiah? Massa you don’t even qualify to lace the shoes of the vice president’s boy Dr. Gideon Boako. Get real for once”, he advised.
