Outspoken Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central constituency, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has described his colleague legislators who benefited from Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETfund) scholarships including Sarah Adwoa Safo as shameless and cheap
“Is Adwoa Safo claiming that she can’t afford GHC22,000, it’s a shame…Adwoa is so industrious, she is into several businesses, her father [and] I could have even paid for her so I am surprised that she will go and take GHC22,000, it’s cheap on her side, very cheap,” he said.
Speaking on Oman FM monitored by MyNewsGh.com, Ken Agyapong fired Adwoa Safo for ‘disgracing’ herself by going in for such a scholarship which amounts to nothing short of a disgraceful amount.
He added that it shameful for Sarah Adwoa Safo and Mathew Opoku Prempeh to rob needy but brilliant students off their entitlements despite their status in society.
Opinions are divided over whether or not MPs who benefited from the GETFund scholarship can be classified as needy.
Though some think they qualify, the majority believe they are well positioned and have the resources to fund their own education.
