Make a Difference-Ghana (MaD-Ghana), a youth charity network, has organised an outreach project to sensitise the youth on the fight against corruption as a social menace.
It seeks to offer the youth the opportunity to engage with anti-corruption institution stakeholders in the fight against corruption as well as offer realistic solutions to fight the social menace.
The event, which was held in Tamale over the weekend, climaxed related projects held in the Upper East and Upper West Regions aimed at encouraging the youth to partner anti-corruption institutions in decision making to curb the menace.
It was organised by MaD-Ghana in partnership with the Ghana Youth Guide (GYG), Virtuous Women (VW), and the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly with funding from the United States Embassy in Accra.
A public float and a live concert were held in Tamale as part of the activities to effectively engage the youth in creating the awareness of corruption as the social menace.
Mr Saafo Kantanka, Tamale Metropolitan Coordinating Director, who spoke at the event, underscored the need for re-orientation of the public on what constituted corruption to collectively engage all in the fight against the menace.
Mr Kantanka indicated that corruption started with the individuals in the market through to public office holders and individuals must be sensitised to fully understand the components of corruption to its lowest level.
He advised the youth to be self-reliant and take the right decisions to become responsible future leaders devoid of any acts of corruption that retarded the country’s development.
