Children killed in Nigeria school collapse

A school building collapse in Jos, Nigeria's Plateau state, has killed 22 children and injured over 130.

Saint Academy collapsed during classes, trapping students under debris. Volunteers and rescuers used various tools to free those trapped. The cause remains unclear, though heavy rains were reported prior.

The school houses over 1,000 pupils. Injured student Wulliya Ibrahim recounted hearing a sound before the collapse during exams. The incident follows a pattern of building collapses in Nigeria, attributed to poor construction practices.

UNICEF Nigeria expressed condolences, emphasizing the tragedy of lost young lives. Recent similar incidents include a 2021 Lagos high-rise collapse killing 45.
