Nigeria’s Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, has claimed the Cable News Network (CNN) are “desperate” and “trying to escape”.
Mohammed stated this while speaking on NTA, in response to CNN’s second video report on the alleged shooting by the Nigerian Army at #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki toll gate on October 20.
He insisted that CNN were not fair and balanced in their report and did not reach out to the federal government.
“They (CNN) were caught spreading fake news and they are trying to escape.
“We are accusing them (CNN) of basing their stories on videos sourced on social media. CNN has been inconsistent. It also doctored the video it got.
“We are confident in our position,” Mohammed said.
Mohammed again asked CNN to provide the evidence of dead bodies allegedly killed by soldiers.
Last month, the #EndSARS protests took place around the country and culminated in the shooting of peaceful demonstrators at the Lekki toll gate in Lagos.
CNN’s investigative reports claim the Army shot at people with live rounds and witnesses of the Lekki shooting have accused military officers of taking away the bodies.
