Rescue teams have retrieved 157 bodies from two landslides in southern Ethiopia's Gofa zone after heavy rains.
The landslides occurred on Sunday evening and Monday morning in a remote mountainous area. The search for survivors continues, with the death toll potentially rising.
Hundreds of people are involved in the rescue efforts, digging through dirt where a hillside partially collapsed. Among the dead are both adults and children, while 10 survivors are hospitalized.
The second landslide buried rescuers under mud. Heavy rains and flooding have recently impacted southern Ethiopia, with climate change contributing to extreme weather events.
