Kenya's High Court has referred a case challenging Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's impeachment to the Chief Justice for further direction.
The impeachment, passed by parliament on Tuesday, includes 11 charges such as self-enrichment and inciting ethnic hatred, which Gachagua denies.
Justice Lawrence Mugambi emphasized the public interest in the case, suggesting a panel of judges be formed to review Gachagua's petition.
The Senate is expected to debate and vote on the charges next week, determining whether Gachagua will be dismissed from office.
