Kenyan Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua missed his Senate impeachment trial due to illness, according to his lawyer, who said he was hospitalized with chest pains.
Gachagua faces 11 charges, including corruption and undermining the government.
His impeachment trial follows a fallout with President William Ruto, and accusations that Gachagua mismanaged resources and incited ethnic divisions.
The Senate must vote on whether to remove him from office, with two-thirds required for his impeachment.
