Kenya’s Beatrice Chebet clinched Olympic gold in the women’s 5,000 metres at Paris 2024, finishing in 14 minutes and 28.56 seconds, with compatriot Faith Kipyegon initially disqualified but later reinstated to silver after a successful appeal.
Kipyegon, who had clashed with Ethiopia’s Gudaf Tsegay, was stripped of her medal for obstruction but regained it following a review.
Mary Moraa also earned bronze in the women’s 800m.
Sifan Hassan of the Netherlands accepted her bronze after Kipyegon's reinstatement.
Kipyegon now focuses on defending her 1500m title.
