A lightning strike at the Palabek Refugee Settlement in northwestern Uganda has tragically killed 13 children and one adult during a church service on Saturday evening.
Police report that 34 others were injured in the incident, which occurred amidst heavy rains and thunderstorms in the area.
The adult victim was 21 years old, but the ages of the children have not been disclosed. The settlement hosts over 80,000 refugees, primarily from South Sudan.
This incident follows a similar tragedy in Arua four years ago, where lightning killed 10 children during a football game.
