NFF eyes Amunike or Nsien for Super Eagles coaching role

The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) is currently searching for a suitable successor to fill the vacant coaching position for the Super Eagles.

Despite the possibility of Peseiro returning, negotiations between him and the NFF have stalled due to differences in salary proposals. The NFF has compiled a shortlist of two potential candidates who could take charge if an agreement with Peseiro for an extension of his tenure is not reached.
These candidates are Emmanuel Amunike and Michael Nsien. Amunike has an impressive track record with the junior ranks of the Nigerian team and has successfully led the Taifa Stars of Tanzania to qualify for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt. Nsien, on the other hand, is a former Nigerian U-20 international and currently holds the position of coach for the USA U-19 men's team.
While some ex-players of the Super Eagles and a few stakeholders have expressed their support for Amunike's appointment, the current NFF president, Musa Gusau, seems to be leaning towards Nsien, who has received training in the United States.
