Kenyan police fired tear gas to disperse protesters in Nairobi, who were expressing anger against the government and mourning those killed in previous protests.

Security forces blocked roads around key buildings. This follows protests against tax hikes, resulting in over 20 deaths and part of parliament set alight.

President William Ruto, under pressure, withdrew the finance bill containing the unpopular tax proposals. State agents have been accused of detaining hundreds linked to the protests, with over 300 released. Protests also occurred in other cities, with demands for Ruto's resignation.

Ruto promised dialogue but defended the bill as necessary for economic stability.
