Bandits have attacked residents of Kurmin Masara in Atyap Chiefdom, Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Reports say the attacks which started late on Monday night, lasting several hours saw gunmen shoot sporadically till 1.00 am on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 (today).

The attack comes less than 24 hours after gunmen stormed the Kurmin Masara community, killed 11 persons, and burnt over 30 houses and properties.

The news of the attacks was confirmed by the Youth leader of Atyap Chiefdom, Gabriel Joseph to Daily Post on Tuesday morning.

He said after residents of Kurmin Masara deserted their community during the Sunday attack, the gunmen decided to attack Atisa, a nearby settlement of the same Kurmin Masara axis.

He said the gunmen shot freely as there was no security personnel to counter them, just as the vigilantes in the area ran for their dear lives, Daily Post reports.

Joseph who couldn't confirm the loss of lives at the time of filing this report said the gunmen took away their foodstuff and animals.

The youth leader called on the government to take serious action to defend and protect citizens and their properties.

Kaduna Police Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Jalige, however, did not pick up his calls nor respond to text messages sent to him.
