South African Football Association (Safa) president Danny Jordaan has been granted bail following allegations of using Safa funds for personal expenses.
Hawks, the organized crime unit, is investigating charges of fraud and theft totaling 1.3 million rand ($72,000) between 2014 and 2018.
Jordaan allegedly hired a security firm for personal protection and a public relations company without board approval.
Arrested along with Safa's CFO Gronie Hluyo and businessman Trevor Neethling, Jordaan denied wrongdoing in a pre-arrest affidavit.
The case, adjourned until December 5, follows a raid on Safa’s offices in March, where evidence was seized.
Jordaan, facing calls to resign due to these allegations and Safa’s struggles, is still pursuing a fourth term as president.
