South Africa registered, on Wednesday, June 2, an increase in new cases of COVID-19, with 5,782 infections and 110 deaths in 24 hours.
In the preceding 24 hours, the country had registered 3,614 new positive cases and 95 deaths.
Speaking on the night of Wednesday, June 2 during his regular press briefing, Health Minister Zweli Mkhize said the country had a cumulative 1,675,013 positive cases and a total of 56,000,711 deaths.
The minister also said that the worst-hit provinces were Gauteng, which totalled 54 dead, followed by Noroeste 16, Limpopo 11 and an equal number in the Free State. Northern Cape reported (07), Kwazulu-Natal (04), Mpumalanga (04) and Eastern Cape (03).
Recoveries represent a rate of 93.5%, while the total number of vaccines administered reaches 1,117,000 and 569.
