The Department of Home Affairs launched an investigation after questions arose about her eligibility for the Miss South Africa pageant due to her mother's Mozambican roots.
Adetshina withdrew from the competition amid allegations of identity theft involving her mother.
Despite this, she won Miss Universe Nigeria and is set to compete in the Miss Universe pageant in Mexico on November 16, asserting her pride in both her South African and Nigerian identities.
