Tanzania's information minister Nape Nnauye has been dismissed after his comments about election rigging caused an uproar.
At a rally on July 15, Nnauye suggested he would help a ruling party MP win the 2025 election by manipulating results.
Following backlash from a viral video of his remarks, he claimed he was joking. President Samia Suluhu Hassan removed him in a cabinet reshuffle without stating reasons.
Nnauye, who previously faced criticism for similar comments, has been replaced by Jerry Slaa. Foreign Minister January Makamba was also sacked, with Mahmoud Thabiti Kombo appointed as his replacement.
