UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) for alleged civilian attacks amid the 18-month conflict with the Sudanese army.
Reports indicate the RSF killed at least 124 people in El Gezira, sparking accusations of ethnic violence.
Guterres warned such actions could violate international law, demanding accountability. Meanwhile, Britain, now leading the UN Security Council, plans to propose a resolution addressing civilian protection and scaling up aid.
The Security Council will discuss this on November 12, as Sudan’s approval for humanitarian access through Chad is set to expire mid-November, raising concerns about continued aid delivery.
