In 2011, Fidelity Bank identified that 70% of Ghana’s adult population was unbanked.
To address this, it launched Agency Banking and the Smart Account in 2013, providing low Know Your Customer (KYC) accounts and banking services through local agents.
This approach helped onboard 1.5 million unbanked individuals and reduced Ghana's unbanked population to 38%.
Fidelity Bank's initiatives, supported by key development partners, also introduced digital banking innovations like USSD channels.
With over 8,000 agents today, Fidelity continues to drive financial inclusion through products like the Smart Loan and micro-insurance plans.
