Absa Group has sponsored the Business Ethics (BEN) Africa Conference, held on November 7-8, 2024, at Ghana Communications Technology University in Accra. Under the theme “Agenda 2063 and a sustainable Africa: the role of ethical businesses,” the conference unites leaders from diverse sectors to promote integrity in African business practices, supporting the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
Absa’s Chief Compliance Officer Akash Singh emphasized the role of ethical business in combating corruption, which costs Africa over $140 billion annually.
The conference includes an Ethics Supplier Day on November 6, where SMEs are introduced to the Ethically Aware Supplier Induction Programme, equipping them with tools for ethical practices in areas such as anti-corruption and human rights.
Judith Haizel, Compliance Director at Absa Bank Ghana, highlighted Absa’s commitment to transparency and integrity by empowering suppliers through this program.
