U.S. Ambassador to Ghana, Virginia E. Palmer, has urged the Ghanaian government to address payment arrears to the private sector and international investors, emphasizing that stability and reforms are crucial for retaining and attracting foreign investments.
Speaking at AMCHAM’s 35th anniversary dinner, she stressed the need for transparency in public financial management, tenders, and concessions to build public trust and investor confidence.
Ambassador Palmer highlighted opportunities under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and called on Ghana’s private sector to push for rigorous implementation of the agreement.
She also praised Ghana’s peaceful democratic transitions and encouraged political parties to sign a peace pact ahead of the 2024 elections.
The event honored former President John Agyekum Kufuor and outstanding U.S. companies while recognizing AMCHAM’s leadership and long-serving members.
