Africa World Airlines (AWA) has donated over GH₵60,000 to the Breast Cancer Unit of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital to support patients undergoing treatment. Joselyn Andoh, AWA’s Brand and Corporate Communications Manager, stated the initiative aims to ease the financial burden on breast cancer patients and contribute to combating the disease.
Breast cancer poses a significant public health challenge in Ghana, with over 4,000 new cases and 2,000 deaths annually, according to the WHO. AWA’s donation, funded by contributions from its passengers and staff, reflects its commitment to enhancing healthcare in Ghana.
Dr. Florence Dedey and Dr. Maurice Dordunoo, receiving the donation, highlighted the importance of such support in providing life-saving treatments for financially constrained patients. AWA reaffirmed its dedication to impactful community initiatives that improve lives.
