President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will commission The Bank Square, the new headquarters of the Bank of Ghana, on November 20, 2024.
Planning for the facility began in the 1990s due to the aging structure of the existing headquarters and the need for expansion.
Following unsuccessful attempts to secure land, a site at West Ridge was acquired in 2020 through compulsory acquisition.
The $121 million project, awarded to Goldkey Properties, includes a 20-storey tower, additional blocks, basements, and sustainable features meeting EDGE green standards.
MULTICAD, a local consultancy, was engaged to oversee the project. Construction began in 2021, and progress stands at 41%, with completion expected by September 2024.
The facility is designed to address the Bank’s operational, security, and seismic needs while ensuring environmental sustainability.
