AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine cemented its position as a leader in sustainability by winning nine awards at the 2024 Sustainability & Social Investment (SSI) Awards in Accra, the most by any company this year. This achievement builds on their success at last year’s event, where they claimed seven awards.
The accolades, including SSI Company of the Year, Best Company in Women Empowerment, and Best Company in Environmental Sustainability, highlight the mine's commitment to impactful Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainability initiatives.
Additionally, Mavis Nana Yaa Kyei, the Social Development and Gender Superintendent, received the SSI Women Empowerment Leadership Award.
Emmanuel Baidoo, Head of Community Relations, credited their success to well-designed, community-driven interventions and a robust 10-year Socioeconomic Development Plan, emphasizing continued dedication to benefiting host communities.
