The Auditor General has criticized the Controller and Accountant General, the Bank of Ghana, the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), and the Minerals Commission for not disclosing the tax revenues from gold exports in 2023.
An audit revealed that nine gold mining companies exported gold worth GH₵53.1 billion, but there is no data on the royalties collected.
The Controller and Accountant General, Kwasi Adjei, acknowledged the issue, citing technical challenges in accounting for gold revenues.
He assured that efforts are being made to establish systems for timely and accurate reporting of gold-related revenues in national accounts.
