One of Ghana’s leading hotels, the Coconut Gove Regency Hotel has emphasised their commitment to rendering top-notch service that they sets them apart from others.
The Hotel witnessed a tragic fire outbreak that razed down a section of the hotel which had a swimming pool, barbering shop, gift shop, GN Bank, Gold Coast Securities, Amansan TV, Business TV and other offices.
Speaking exclusively with www.ghanaweb.com, the Events Manager of Coconut Grove Hotel, Hugo Happenbauer disclosed that the main hotel section wasn’t affected by the fire.
He revealed that 24hours after the inferno that engulfed a section of the hotel, operations were back to normal and business went on as usual.
“Bad news travels far. The news was that coconut grove burns down which is wrong. And I want to clarify 24hours after the event, we were fully in business and as u can see conferences are going on, parties are going on and we have people doing a lot of bookings, our rooms are being occupied by guests and foreign guests so we are fully in business. We continue to offer memories worth repeating as we say to our cherished clients” he detailed.
Happenbauer reiterated the hotel’s desire to continue to serve clients with the warm smiles and friendly service which has become their hall mark.
Buttressing his point that the hotel has been in operations despite the unfortunate incident, Happenbauer made known that many institutions have used their premise for several events and the accommodation is at times over booked.
He however explained that the fire outbreak that hit them two months ago resulted in a dip in revenue and sales as patronage reduced.
He blamed this phenomenon on the wrong perception that was created, suggesting that the whole Coconut Grove Hotel had been burnt down.
The Events Manager was optimistic that the steady rise in patronage witnessed in recent times will continue to improve and result in higher gains for the fortunes of the hotel.
“We have hosted IOM, International Organisation for Migration, we have hosted Registrar General’s department, we have hosted GRA, we have hosted USAID, companies, CARE International and yes, we are still in business” he reiterated
Reconstruction works
Hugo Happenbauer revealed that reconstruction work at the site that was razed down had begun and is expected to be completed within the next two weeks.
He said that the site will be remodeled according to its former design but he wasn’t in the position to tell when it will be reopened for business activities.
He pointed out plans the hotel intends to roll out to ensure that such a disaster doesn’t occur again and also minimise the risk of similar unfortunate situations.
