GIHOC Distilleries has explained that delays in reviving the Aboso Glass Factory are due to disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, which affected key contractual agreements. Despite these challenges, the company is optimistic about starting operations by 2025.
GIHOC's Managing Director, Kofi Jumah, revealed that negotiations with investors are nearly complete, with over 80% of the process finalized. The funding, expected to exceed $100 million, will be used to restart the factory.
Jumah also emphasized the importance of supporting locally manufactured products to help reduce pressure on the local currency and create jobs within the country.
He expressed that political uncertainties may delay the project until after the upcoming elections.
