Workers of the Produce Buying Company (PBC) are set to meet with the National Labour Commission (NLC) and PBC management on November 25, 2024, to address over 10 months of unpaid salaries and pensions.
The meeting follows petitions to the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) and a series of workers' protests.
Seth Adusei, Vice Chairman of the PBC Workers’ Union, expressed optimism about resolving the matter, noting that CHRAJ referred the case to the NLC for action.
He highlighted delays in parliamentary discussions due to recess and other challenges but remains hopeful about the scheduled dialogue.
The workers are demanding payment of outstanding salaries, provident funds, and treaty obligations, and the NLC has assured them of a judgment on the issue.
