Former Power Minister, Dr. Kwabena Donkor has dismissed claims that recent power outages in Ghana are due to maintenance work by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
He argued that the primary issue is a 500-megawatt shortfall caused by inadequate fuel supply.
Speaking on JoyFM, Dr. Donkor explained that while the Ghana Gas Processing Plant may undergo maintenance, thermal plants should still operate on light crude oil.
He highlighted that the power sector is in a financial crisis, struggling to pay for fuel, which is the real cause of the disruptions.
