Ghana Gas CEO reveals $250m savings and calls for investment in Ghana Cylinder Manufacturing Company
Dr. Ben Asante, CEO of Ghana National Gas Company (Ghana Gas), has called on investors to revitalize the Ghana Cylinder Manufacturing Company (GCMC) by establishing a modern factory to meet local demand for gas cylinders, accessories, and cook stoves, with plans for future exports across West Africa.
Speaking at a press briefing on November 17, 2024, Dr. Asante highlighted the importance of enhancing domestic manufacturing capacity to create jobs and reduce reliance on imports.
Following the government’s approval of Ghana Gas’ acquisition of GCMC, the move aims to strengthen gas infrastructure and boost the economy.
Dr. Asante also announced that Ghana Gas has saved $250 million by employing local engineers, emphasizing workforce indigenization to build skills, reduce costs, and ensure long-term energy sector sustainability.
