Ghana's Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector is recovering after two years of economic challenges, with volumes rising by 4.0% and value by 2.0% in the first half of 2024, according to Maverick Research.
Easing inflation has led to a shift in consumer behavior, with more purchases of smaller packs for better value. Non-alcoholic beverages are also seeing growth due to pack-size innovations and retail promotions.
However, the home and personal care categories still face challenges due to down-weighting and price hikes, extending consumer purchase cycles. Despite improvements, the sector remains vulnerable to global shocks.
