Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam announced that the IMF Board will meet on December 2, 2024, to discuss Ghana’s Third Programme Review, potentially releasing $360 million to support the government’s budget and balance of payments.
This follows a staff-level agreement after an IMF visit earlier this month. If approved, total funds received since joining the IMF programme will reach $1.92 billion.
Dr. Amin Adam expressed optimism that these funds will strengthen Ghana's reserves and stabilize the cedi.
He highlighted positive investor responses to Ghana’s economic reforms and welcomed the IMF’s revised growth projection for 2024, increasing it from 3% to 4%.
