The World Bank's 2024 Business Ready report reveals that economies perform better in enacting business-friendly regulations than in providing public services necessary for effective implementation.
Covering 50 economies with plans to expand to 180 by 2026, the report shows an average score of 65.5 for regulatory frameworks but only 49.7 for public services. This gap limits the benefits of a healthy business climate.
Business Ready, a successor to the Doing Business project, evaluates both regulations and service quality, highlighting the importance of transparency and efficiency in fostering economic growth, even in low- and middle-income countries like Rwanda and Vietnam.
