Investors will pull out if we don’t fix galamsey – Chamber of Mines CEO warns

Ghana Chamber of Mines CEO, Sulemanu Koney, believes ending illegal mining (galamsey) is achievable with strong political will and sustained effort.

Speaking on PM Express, Koney stressed the need to segment the mining sector, offering tailored solutions for small- and large-scale miners.

He urged the government to provide technical support and training for small-scale miners to comply with regulations.

Koney warned that failing to address galamsey's environmental impact could drive away eco-conscious investors.

He called for a holistic approach, combining regulation, indigenous capital, and stakeholder collaboration to solve the problem.
